Which NBA Stars Will Make Their First All Star Appearance Next Year?

Whenever someone brings up a players Hall Of Fame resume, the first thing they spew out is that particular players number of all star appearances. Other than a ring, it is by all accounts, the most important stat in an NBA players career. Although it shouldn’t be, as, in my opinion, All NBA appearances are much more prestigious. However, that is an unpopular opinion that has not yet caught on. With that being said, let’s jump into it.

Eastern Conference

Joel Embiid: When healthy, Joel Embiid is one of the best centers in the NBA. Embiid played just 31 games last season and averaged 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds throughout the course of those games. Despite the limited amount of games and not to mention the minute restriction he was on, Embiid was still considered for an all star selection. So imagine if Embiid had that same exact season this year, he would be a unanimous all star selection in a weakening eastern conference. However, one can only hope that Joel will be able to stay on the court longer than that and really develop his game and create real chemistry with an unfamiliar 76ers team. That is easier said than done, as Joel has played in just 31 of a possible 246 games throughout his career. This is a man who has bitten by an injury bug that just won’t let go. Joel Embiid has an incredible chance to have a breakout season but will need to stay on the court and produce at an even higher level than last year. Below are my final predictions for Joel Embiids season stats.

Stats Prediction:

22.4 Points Per Game

9.2 Rebounds Per Game

2.0 Assists Per Game

Plays 57 Games

1x All Star, 1x All NBA

Kristaps Porzingis: Kristaps Porzingis is the face of the New York Knicks organization. Despite all the drama that surrounded the Knicks front office last season, Porzingis was able to stay consistent and averaged over 18 points per game while also grabbing over 7 rebounds each and every game. However, with the firing of Phil Jackson, things are finally beginning to look brighter in Knicks land. Carmelo Anthony will likely be traded before the season opener, handing over full responsibility to Porzingis. If Kristaps can significantly improve his stats and efficiency, he will be an all star lock for years to come. Not to mention that Porzingis plays in one of the biggest markets in the NBA, so if he proves he’s loyal and faithful to New York, they will force him into the all star game. However, not all of all star votes go to fans anymore due to the “Zaza Pachulia Rule”. Regardless, Kristaps Porzingis has all the tools to be a superstar, and he holds his destiny in his hands. Kristaps Porzingis will one day be an NBA MVP. He truly is an NBA unicorn.

Stats Prediction:

20.3 Points Per Game

8.4 Rebounds Per Game

1.3 Assists Per Game

Plays 76 Games

1x All Star, 1x All NBA

Western Conference

Karl Anthony-Towns: The lack of Timberwolves overall success the past few seasons has kept Towns out of the all star game. However, with the addition of Jimmy Butler, the Wolves should compete for a fifth or sixth seed, giving Towns the success he needs to earn those players and media votes. Coming off a 25 and 12 season, Karl Anthony-Towns has already proved himself as an elite NBA center. Although, There is a good chance that Towns won’t sustain these stats next season due to Jimmy Butler addition which will take a lot of his shots away and force Towns to take a backseat offensively. However, This drop off will not affect the voters unless Towns completely denies the situation and attempts to be the number one guy. That does not fit his track record though as KAT has proven himself as not only an elite player but an elite teammate. We have heard no utterings of problems within the organization and can only assume they are all in it for a championship. We shall see if Towns embraces and prospers, or denies and crumbles. I believe in the former.

Season Prediction:

22.4 Points Per Game

11.6 Rebounds Per Game

3.2 Assists Per Game

Plays 79 Games

1x All Star, 1x All NBA

Mike Conley: This one is definitely a long shot. Conley has been snubbed in the All-Star game the past few seasons due to the overload of guards in the Western Conference and the small market he plays in. However, last season, Conley averaged 20.5 Points Per Game, 6.3 Assists Per Game, while shooting 46% from the field and over 40% from three. The Memphis Grizzlies also earned the sixth seed in the Western Conference and challenged the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs. Conley is just one western conference guard injury away from claiming his spot in his first NBA all game. However, Conley has been bitten by the injury bug in the past and if he wants to have a chance at an all star game, he will need to stay healthy throughout the course of the season and improve his offensive game. If Mike Conley can prove to opponents that he is the focal point of the Grizzlies offense, then it will be hard for the coaches to leave out a star player on a playoff team. Mike Conley is a future NBA all star.

Season Predictions:

22.4 Points Per Game

6.1 Assists Per Game

3.8 Rebounds Per Game

Plays 70 Games

1x All Star
